Songs of Glimmerwick: Potion Brewing Guide
Learn a recipe before brewing, practice to raise that recipe’s quality, then Brew with its ingredients at a cauldron; lessons can temporarily disable brewing.
Learn the recipe first
A recipe list is not an unlock list. Learn each potion from its named class, character, quest, or recipe source before expecting it to appear at a practice station. For example, Professor Sylvine teaches Potion of Hardiness when the Potions 101 practice begins on Spring 4; she teaches Insta Ungrow in Potions 102 on Spring 10.
Practice, then brew
At a potion practice station, select a learned recipe and choose Practice to build its quality score. Brew uses the ingredients for that recipe. If Brew is unavailable, check that the recipe is learned, all ingredients are available, the score is high enough for the quality you want, and a lesson is not still running: brewing is disabled during a potion lesson.
Use quality targets for the potion you need
Quality thresholds can differ between potions. The unofficial item reference, labeled up to version 1.08b, lists Hardiness at 50 Poor, 60 Average, 70 High, 80 Exceptional, and 95 Legendary with Potion Mastery Help off. The same reference says the assist setting lowers thresholds, so check your displayed quality when it is enabled. The recipe is one Twig and two Cut Grass. These numbers are not a retest of version 1.09.
Avoid recipe and homework mix-ups
Potion Homework asks for five potions total, not five different recipes. Keep needed ingredients before selling surplus through the Magic Well; Hyla stocks Beetles and Salt Piles, while the Potion Starter Set is a bundle of supplies rather than a recipe unlock. Ingredient-growing plans depend on the season and the seed packet.
