Songs of Glimmerwick: Skills and Skill Points

Get the Skill Trinket from Nalin, earn points by leveling, and unlock connected ability nodes. Mana Enrichment, Potionwork Proficiency and Seed Gatherer are practical starting choices.

Get the Skill Trinket and open Abilities

During your school-supply errand, visit Nalin at Practical Practice in Wisk and tell him you are a student to register your Skill Trinket. Open the Abilities page from the player menu to inspect the tree and available points. If it shows zero points immediately, continue the enrollment errand and return after gaining a level.

Earn points and follow connected nodes

Complete quests, improve potion practice or song scores, and visit the Bathhouse from summer onward for experience; these are activities recorded by a player guide. Eastshade described one ability point per level in a 2023 development reply. The unofficial tree reference, labeled up to version 1.08b, lists one point per 11 XP and 31 one-point abilities. Select an available node in Abilities to spend a point; later nodes require a connected unlocked ability, so check the route as well as the effect before choosing. Those exact numbers have not been independently tested in 1.09.

Pick a benefit that fits your play

The 1.08b-labeled tree identifies three starting choices: Mana Enrichment I adds 100 maximum mana, Potionwork Proficiency I adds 5 to potion practice scores, and Seed Gatherer improves seed drops when harvesting the garden. The Japanese player’s ability list independently describes these effects. Choose the mana increase if spell capacity limits your gardening, the practice bonus if you brew often, or seed gathering if you want more seeds from crops. There is no single required first choice.

Hidden nodes and reset limits

Some nodes are hidden until a quest reveals them. For example, the player’s ability guide records Apothecary being revealed during the Potionmaster ingredients quest; the tree reference describes it as a chance to brew an extra potion and says a connected node must also be unlocked. A reliable point-refund or reset method was not verified, so inspect the displayed effects before committing points. This uncertainty does not prove a reset is impossible in your version.
