Songs of Glimmerwick Shrine Locations and Repair or Destroy Choices

Start Ancient Shrines with the anthropologist at Bellian Moor, then use the landmark routes to find the five shrines. Repair at least three for Whirlwind Aria; destroying shrines adds maximum mana. Gary opens the Seventh Shrine after the Temple of Silence.

Start the Ancient Shrines Quest

Speak with the anthropologist at the ruined shrine on Bellian Moor to start Ancient Shrines and learn Restoration Round. The sources disagree on timing: the shrine-location article says Bellian Moor opens during the Summer 7 camping trip, while the captured quest reference says you can start by talking to her anytime. When she is available, speak with her to begin. At the first of the five shrines you reach, speak with Gary before casting. The captured quest guide says agreeing to help him grants Desolation Dirge; declining leaves you with Restoration Round only.

Where to Find the Five Shrines

Use these region and landmark directions to narrow the search; the source guide says its map did not mark exact pins.

  • Bluffs: Search the woods south of Bristlecone's House, above the west end of Freshman Pier beach.
  • Ochre Woods lake: Sail to the north shore near the lake's east end and look behind the giant dragon skull. In a readable player thread, a player found the island shrine by boating near the ducks; the questioner replied that this route worked.
  • Nocturne Forest: Go deep into the forest, past the talking Shrubs and their picnic basket. The guide places the shrine left of Zinnia, beyond the talking bushes; it is not marked on that guide's map.
  • Mountains: Ride the Gondola to the top of the Shifting Spires and walk a few steps northeast.
  • Beach: Take a boat to the west end of the beach near Mel and Lusina's Shell.

Repair or Destroy: Compare the Rewards

Play one shrine song beside each of the five shrines. The directly readable Weki mechanics table says each cast costs 140 mana, or 112 when perfected; it lists 2 XP per repair and +50 maximum mana per destroyed shrine, and labels its game-data coverage up to version 1.08b. The captured Fextralife quest page and the shrine-location article agree on those reward amounts. The shrine-location article calls the mana increase permanent, but the other readable reference does not state its duration, so permanence is not independently confirmed here. Repair at least three to receive Whirlwind Aria; with two or fewer repairs, the guides say you do not receive that song and Gary waits outside the Temple of Silence. To collect both Desolation Dirge and Whirlwind Aria while gaining mana, the guides describe agreeing to Gary, repairing three shrines, and destroying the other two for +100 maximum mana. The songs reference summarizes the attributed effects of Restoration Round and Desolation Dirge. These are guide-reported outcomes, not a firsthand test here. The sources do not document undoing a shrine choice or any further ending flag, so those effects are unknown.

Reach and Resolve the Seventh Shrine

After handling the five shrines, continue the Temple of Silence quest and its judgment. The guides say the Temple's chalice must first be recovered from the owl with a Sunray Salmon and used at the fountain. Speak with Gary inside after the judgment; he leaves the Silencers, gives you Moss and the Wretched Instrument, and opens the passage behind a statue. At the Seventh Shrine, Repair makes Gary burn the Moss; Destroy plants it on the shrine. The sources say either choice completes Ancient Shrines for 5 XP. They do not establish any later story consequence or a way to reverse either choice.

Source and Version Notes

The readable route article says it was last updated October 6, 2026, and does not state a game build. The captured Fextralife page was last edited October 6; its rendered-DOM capture was collected October 29, 2026. Weki explicitly labels its mechanics data up to PC version 1.08b. The official Steam news feed lists version 1.09, but these sources do not say the shrine routes or choices were retested for that version. No gameplay was performed for this guide.
