Songs of Glimmerwick: Curses and Related Quests

The Cursed Mill and the printing press are separate Cacophony problems that share Song of Silence; Nessa’s Curse is a Fall quest title, not proof that every suspected curse is a player-applied spell.

The Cursed Mill: trace the footprints and silence the mill

The Fextralife walkthrough says the mill becomes cursed from Spring 9. Talk to the Miller in Rosewheat Fields, follow the footprints to the Mill Goblin by the beach and continue to the Temple of Silence. The guide’s reported prerequisite is a Sunray Salmon traded to the Royal Aerie owl for the Temple Chalice; drink at the fountain by the temple door, then ask the leader to break a curse to learn Song of Silence. Play it near the mill to lift that Cacophony and receive an Adept Wheatmill and 5 XP.

The printing press is a separate Cacophony objective

Strange Pamphlets begins with Clover’s pamphlet on Spring 9. After Rowan reveals the cursed press, use the same Song of Silence near the press and collect its shard. That quiets the press; it does not lift the mill’s curse. The shard then leads to a choice between Fern and the Headmistress.

Nessa’s Curse is a different quest chain

Nessa’s Curse starts through a Fall conversation about tutoring hours, then follows the classmates’ illness and a night scene in the Potions Lab. The source walkthrough does not establish that Nessa cast the alleged classmates’ curse, so the quest title should not be used as proof of a separate spell mechanic. Check the Nessa walkthrough for the reported detention reward and Forbidden Potions unlock.

The Fern fixes belong to story timing, not a new curse recipe

The official Version 1.09 notes report a Fern’s Confrontation conflict with Seaflower Festival and a missing-Zinnia issue when that confrontation follows the Harp heist. The notice does not describe a new Song of Silence requirement or a change to either Cacophony route; no 1.09 playthrough was performed here.
