Songs of Glimmerwick: Axe Guide
Learn Chant of the Woodcutters from Dean Clary's garden lesson, play it and target a dead garden tree. The axe is an enchanted tool effect for this task; the developer's direct no-inventory-axe answer was given for the demo.
Learn the garden song from Clary
In the Campus Career garden lesson, follow Dean Clary's instructions after learning Song of Tilling. The 1 October 9Puz opening walkthrough identifies her second song as Chant of the Woodcutters and says it enchants the axe to clear dead garden trees into logs. Open the songbook for its short casting melody and play it at the garden.
Select a dead tree after casting
After the chant, select a dead tree in the garden for the enchanted axe. Eastshade's direct answer to a demo player says there is no axe to collect for that task: play the chant and click a dead farm tree. The later opening walkthrough likewise describes dead trees and fallen wood as targets. Living trees are protected in that walkthrough, while grass and weeds need a Scythe.
Check the lesson, target and mana
If nothing happens, confirm that Clary has taught the chant, that the selected target is dead wood and that you have enough mana for a tool spell. The opening walkthrough says casting tool spells uses mana; it does not prove that every failed cast has the same cause. The developer reply is demo-era and the 1 October walkthrough states no build, so these instructions are source-bounded rather than a 1.09 playtest.
