Songs of Glimmerwick: Beginner Guide

For your first days, follow the letters and calendar, take Clary’s garden lesson, and keep three harvested Basil for her turtle request. Improve songs you use often, and check quest needs before selling spare produce.

Plan around letters and scheduled events

Classes are announced through letters and the in-game calendar. A release-era review reports that the clock waits at scheduled classes and shows until you attend, so use the event marker and your quest log instead of racing across the island against the clock. This does not mean every character is available at every hour: check the current location or event before making a long trip.

Start the garden and reserve the first quest crop

Dean Clary’s Campus Career lesson gives you Song of Tilling and five Basil Seeds. Plant them in ordinary crop plots, water before the day changes, and save three harvested Basil for Basil for a Turtle. Clary’s guide says the first Basil harvest takes three watered growth days and a regrowing plant produces again after two more; these timings come from a walkthrough page that does not state a game build.

Practice often-used songs; keep quest supplies

A guide author recommends spending practice time on songs you will cast repeatedly, such as garden or clearing spells, rather than polishing a one-off performance. Before selling produce, check the active quest: early examples include Basil for Clary, and later quests request specific plants. The garden well pays at the end of the day, so it is not an immediate shop sale.

Revisit people when the story advances

Talk to classmates and townsfolk when a new topic appears, then revisit them after a class, festival, or quest milestone. Several quest guides describe follow-ups that unlock only after another story event. If an objective seems stalled, read its current log text and check whether it names an item, conversation topic, scheduled event, or newly opened location before repeating the same interaction.
